This is the branch of medicine dealing with the correction of abnormalities of either bones or muscles, or the combination of the two. This can be from repetitive movements, chronic or acute injuries, or wear and tear over time. Here is an example of an athlete performing a shoulder rehabilitation exercise.
POSTURE AND GAIT ANALYSIS
Posture is the position in which someone holds their body when standing, sitting or lying down. Postural assessments looks at your static posture to see if there are any imbalances that could cause or are causing pain and discomfort. Gait analysis is merely assessing your posture in movement.
ISOKINETIC TESTING
Isokinetic testing is performed at a fixed speed with the resistance matching the muscle force at that speed of movement. As you push harder or softer, the resistance of the machine changes because the speed remains constant. This gives actual values, hard evidence, of how muscle groups are working , where there is weakness and improvements can be made. An example of a strength test of the antagonistic muscle groups, the quadriceps and hamstrings, that control knee movement.
